Penn Jillette: Obama same as Bush

http://www.downshoredrift.com/.a/6a00d83451d87169e2011278d5491d28a4-500wi

Penn Jillette told uber-liberal Vanity Fair, “The only difference between Obama and Bush is that Obama is killing more people … He’s about double the numbers now. Can you imagine if McCain had won and did precisely what Obama has done, with every speech and every political maneuver overseas? There’d be riots in the streets about the people we’re killing. And yet because it’s Obama, and he’s better looking and better at reading the teleprompter, we let him get away with it.”

Jillette has recently become a frequent commentator on both Fox News and CNN for Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann, and claims himself to be extremely socially liberally and extremely fiscally conservative.

A new Christmas carol

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the Congress,
Every creature was frantic,
from insurers to lobbyists.

While Americans worried about higher taxes and spending,
The liberals, they promised
big government unending.

From Mama Nancy in one chamber to
Papa Harry in the other,
A chorus rang out
And Ben Nelson was smothered.

“Let bureaucrats run health care,”
the leaders urged with a grin.
“Don’t worry about details,
Obama just needs a win.”

On Franken! On Landrieu!
On Lincoln and Schumer!
Dismiss all the facts,
Deny every rumor.

Forget about burdens on business.
Ignore the red tape.
We must pass a bill,
any size, any shape.

More decisions by Washington
The masses, they need it.
So 60 Dems voted yes
Most didn’t bother to read it.

In despair and their kerchiefs
McConnell and Boehner then slumbered.
They had tried to improve things but were vastly outnmbered

With vict’ry in sight
Democrats smiled with glee
But so did some Republicans, only theirs you couldn’t see.

For conservatives knew well
The disaster in sight.
In the bill they saw fortune,
A chance to make all things right.

Soon a thought bubbled forth bringing fresh Christmas cheer.
“Today bureaucrats won.
But they won’t come next year.”

–Matt Latimer, former speechwriter for President Bush, as told on Anderson Cooper’s CNN show.

Typos abound in State Dinner menu

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2009/02/23/Obama%20hosts%20State%20Dinner.jpg

While we’re still in a tizzy over the White House crashers that have basically brought upon themselves a bevy of suspicions, let’s not forget the main point of the Obamas’ State Dinner: to splash about tens of thousands of dollars on a lavish dinner to which pretty much anyone with an exotic last name can gain access.

Problematically, there were quite a few typos riddling the “Night in Versailles” dinner menu, leading one to wonder: if no one’s checking the menu, or the security, where are all our stimulus dollars going?

Catalogued by CNN, here are  misspellings that were found on the menu:

The Riesling was bottled in “Willamette Valley, Oregon” not “Wilamette Valley”; guests were actually offered a “2007 Grenache” (not a “2007 Granache”) and a “Thibaut-Janisson Brut” (not a “Thibaut Janisson Brut”)
–The meal featured “chick peas” (not “chickpeas”)
–The dessert “Gelees” were missing an accent on the final “e”

Oops.

Lou Dobbs duck-and-rolling out of CNN

http://blogs.nashvillescene.com/pitw/Lou-Dobbs.jpg

Perhaps because he doesn’t enjoy gunfire, Lou Dobbs is leaving CNN “to pursue other opportunities. CNN allowed him to peace out of his contract early, and were probably glad to get rid of the neoconservative anchor whose views would have clashed with the other CNN anchors, who are outrageously liberal open-minded!

Dobbs has been working for CNN since 1980, when the news channel was conceived. He was hosting a show about business, but says his worldviews changed arfter the 9/11 attacks and corporate scandals. He began to more openly put forward his opnions, and was in particular very vocal about illegal immigration. Pointing out Obama’s clear lack of birth certificate didn’t help things, either, with the CNN crowd, and Dobbs says he has been in discussions for months about getting out.

Lou Dobbs’ house a gunshot victim

A gunshot was aimed at the home of Lou Dobbs, a CNN correspondent, following a number of threatening phone calls to him and his family, Dobbs reported to listeners on his nationally syndicated radio show.

The neocon, who vehemently opposes amnesty and supports full border protection, said, “They’ve created an atmosphere and they’ve been unrelenting in their propaganda,” referring to pro-immigration groups like the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the National Council of La Raza and America’s Voice. “Three weeks ago this morning, a shot was fired at my house where I live. My wife was standing out and that followed weeks and weeks of threatening phone calls.”

William Gheen, president of AILAC, told FoxNews, ““That shot, that attack on the Dobbs family is an attack on every American that values First Amendment rights.

Dobbs commented that he has been vilified by “the national liberal media,” and living with threats and gunshots has “become a way of life.”

Obama out-classes Kanye by calling him a “jackass”

Perhaps someone fell asleep at the teleprompter, because the president of the free world just called Kanye a jackass. It all came out when Terry Moran tweeted:

ABCNews, which has not been discredited over and over, reached out to the Politico to explain what actually happened (Spoiler alert: this actually happened).

“In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”

Basically, Obama’s comments were (oops!) off the record. Just like his birth certificate.

Marriage trouble: White House and CNN in a fight

CNN just can’t get a break. For one, they just lost their position as the number one online news source to Yahoo! News after people got annoyed that CNN lies all the time, and now, the high priests of the White House temple are annoyed at them for reporting on a “suspicious occurrence” on the Potomac—on 9/11, no less—that caused plenty of security hubbub involving the FBI and freezing up Ronald Reagan Airport. Turns out the shots fired during a routine drill got CNN all atwitter.

Obama drone Robert Gibbs sharply rebuked CNN, dramatically saying, “Before we report things like this, checking would be good.” Funny, the American people are saying the same thing to the White House about propped up stories of how successful Obamacare will be.

Hell hath no fury like the liberal media scorned, so CNN.com quickly took down its apocalyptic news item about 9/11 happening again, and replaced it with some real news—and it isn’t even a lie about how much people love Obama and support his healthcare plan! That’ll teach Gibbs not to sass CNN.

Rep. Joe Wilson, R-South Carolina, shouts "You lie!" during President Obama's speech Wednesday night.

Fabricated terrorists threats got replaced with a story about Rep Wilson. Turns out the “embarrassed Republicans” have raised $200,000 within 24 hours of Wilson’s calling out the prez. No news yet if CNN and the White House have changed their Facebook relationship status to “it’s complicated.”

CNN Poll: We love Obama! Poll sample: all democrats

With the flashy headline “Double-digit post-speech jump for Obama,” CNN reported that despite record low approval ratings of 52%, people actually love Obama. Problematically, the polling sample was anything but bipartisan, with only 18% being Republicans and 45%–nearly three times as many–being Democrats.

Perhaps remembering that they are journalists, not lobbyists, CNN slipped in this little nugget at the end of the report: “Our best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is about 8-10 points more Democratic than the population as a whole.”

So basically CNN sampled Democrats and–shocker!–they like other Democrats! Thanks, CNN.
