It’s like the Christmas version of her heinous homage to split pea soup from Inauguration season last year. Listen, Michelle, I know you’re still pretending Climategate didn’t happen and that global warming is real, but there is no need to dress yourself as a fancy baked potato in order to conserve heat during these recession times. You’re husbands taxing the crap out of everyone just to make sure you don’t have to do that.
Can’t wait to see Vogue, Vanity Fair, and/or Redbook scramble for ways to describe the FLOTUS as “elegant,” “iconic,” or “graceful” in this ridiculous foil dress. Jennifer Aniston and Heidi Klum did it so much better.
Sensing desperation over Climategate and its impending email leak-based Armageddon, Harry Reid took to some serious name calling to blast the GOP/anyone that realizes global warming is a scam. The Senate Majority Leader compared Republicans opposing health care reform to the institution of slavery.
The Nevada Democrat also pulled out other civil rights analogies, such as women’s suffrage, since clearly those relate to political manipulations to put power in the hands of the government rather than the people.
Reid seems to have forgotten which political party stood on the side of ending slavery.
According to Suneeta Mukherjee, a rep for the United Nations Food Population Fund (who knew this existed?), announced that women in the Phillipines are likely to be forced into turning tricks to keep an income. He blames climate change, which he says has resulted in lower fish populations, from which many depend upon to make money.
Nevermind that the bodies of water have been overfished for years, which may result in these lower fish problems. It’s definitely the global warming.
“Climate change could reduce income from farming and fishing, possibly driving some women into sex work and thereby increase HIV infection,” Mukherjee said during an annual State of World Population Report in Pasay City.
The Philippines have always had brothels dotting its coastal shores, but the recession has taken its toll in the worst way, often resulting in younger women entering the business and in greater numbers.
To add to the list of Obama’s really smart/honorable/classy cohorts, Van Jones, an Obama-appointed official known as the “Special Advisor for Green Jobs,” had to apologize this week for being a publicity nightmare to the Democratic party. This came out after it was revealed he was part of the “Truther” movement, the ridiculous group of those who signed a petition conjecturing that Bush “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”
Problematically, Jones denied that he signed this petition, despite his name being signed. Oops.
Jones has not elaborated on his boldfaced lie, but an administrator said that Jones did not carefully read the language before signing his name. And, hey, we’ve all done it: an honest mistake when accusing the president of treason.
Furthermore, Jones said, “In recent days, some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration – some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.”
What were these comments that those pesky media narcs exposed?
When asked why Republicans asserted more control of the Senate when they had a smaller majority before 2006, Jones said “the answer to that is, they’re assholes.” Jones elaborated that Obama is not an asshole, but, “I can be an asshole, and some of us who are not Barack Hussein Obama are going to have to start getting a little bit uppity.”
Jones, ever the jokester, added that “asshole” is “a technical, political science term.”
