Indonesian Integrated Investment: ‘Remarkable Indonesia’
Washington, D.C., the United States of America, July 7, 2010—CTI’s (Cita Tenun Indonesia/Indonesian Woven Cloths Association) has a mission to preserve original Indonesian woven cloths, tenun, and to establish Indonesia as central market for woven textiles. CTI also provides various training programs to increase production and quality and expand the market at home and overseas.
CTI has the honour to participate in the Indonesian cultural night entitled “Indonesian Integrated Investment: Remarkable Indonesia” in Washington, D.C., the United States of America, a program initiated by the BKPM (Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board) and supported by the Indonesian Embassy. The event will portray the blend of Indonesian culture culminating in tenun as one of traditional textiles used by Indonesian top fashion designers.
Two of Indonesia’s top designers, Oscar Lawalata and Denny Wirawan, will present their dazzling designs. Both have been genuinely inspired through their deep exploration of the richness and beauty of woven textiles throughout the archipelago. Oscar Lawalata’s collection, ‘Ikat,’ is inspired by East Nusa Tenggara tenun. While Denny Wirawan’s ‘A Fascinating Journey of Sumatera’ is motivated by South Sumatra tenun.
Through the Indonesian cultural night, CTI hopes that the audience will become aware of and appreciate the cultural value of the elegant, stunning and exclusive Indonesian tenun industry, both the products and the private collections of the tenun lovers who are members of CTI and avid supporters of the vision and mission of CTI.
