Too late, Olberman. Cat’s outta the bag.
News anchor, Keith Olberman, on my least favorite news channel, MSNBC, has been put on indefinite suspension after donating to at least three Democratic candidates (in violation of the network’s rules.) Olberman donated to Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords of AZ and KY senate candidate Jack Conway, all of which were obviously Democrats. Let’s hope his “countdown” until MSNBC-reappearance takes a loooonnng time. Their election coverage was comparable to a circus act, and apparently many others agreed, as MSNBC drew a reported 1.9 million viewers on election night, whereas FoxNews drew 7 million. I hear that Rachel Maddow, however, has been reported to be very upset by this matter, wondering who she will exchange snarky anti-republican jokes with.
“I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay,” Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC, said in a statement.
“One week ago, on the night of Thursday October 28 2010, after a discussion with a friend about the state of politics in Arizona, I donated $2,400 each to the reelection campaigns of Democratic Representatives Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. I also donated the same amount to the campaign of Democratic Senatorial candidate Jack Conway in Kentucky.
I did not privately or publicly encourage anyone else to donate to these campaigns, nor to any others in this election or any previous ones, nor have I previously donated to any political campaign at any level.”
I’m deeply saddened and surprised by this matter. TTYN, Olberman.
