Escalators at Foggy Bottom and DuPont metro will be closed for a YEAR

Get ready for some crazy calf exercises this summer. Metro will be shutting down escalators at the Foggy Bottom-GWU and DuPont Circle stations soon to begin repairs. While repairs at Foggy Bottom won’t start until January, Metro has only revealed that repairs at DuPont will begin “relatively soon.” If you’ve been to any metro station within the past year, you will have noticed that there’s probably a 75% chance you have to hike up the escalators risking a heart attack and/or asthma attack. These changes come after consultants brought in to investigate/review the metro system blamed metro’s “poor maintenance practices” for the constant escalator failures.

What does this mean for drunken GWU students and folks leaving Front Page at 2am? Possible falling up and/or down escalators and serious embarrassment.
