Tonight: Keepers of the American Dream

The Keepers of the American Dream Awards event celebrates the heroes who embody the spirit of immigrant achievement and the American Dream, contribute significantly to the well-being of immigrants in America, and enhance our appreciation of immigrants and the immigrant tradition.

The 2011 event will be held on Thursday, October 13th at the Newseum’s Knight Conference Center, which features some of Washington, D.C.’s most stunning vistas.  With views of the U.S. Capitol, National Gallery of Art and the National Mall, there is no better place to honor and pay tribute to our nation’s remarkable leaders.

2011 Honorees:

Keepers of the American Dream Award: Presented to J.W. “Bill” Marriott, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Marriott International. Mr. Marriott has distinguished himself among business executives with his leadership and passion to make sure immigrants realize their American Dream.

Golden Door Award: Presented to Southwest Airlines. Since their first flight 40 years ago, Southwest Airlines has been an industry leader in displaying outstanding corporate citizenship, championing the American Dream through its Hispanic and Asian American outreach initiatives.

Thomas Carvel Immigrant Entrepreneur Award: Presented to Philippe Villers. The French immigrant’s entrepreneurial spirit propelled him to establish several high-tech corporations and found the advocacy organization Families USA.

Heroes of the American Dream Award: Presented to Karen Narasaki. As Executive Director of the Asian American Justice Center, Karen Narasaki has worked to advance the human and civil rights for Asian Americans.
