Courage for Kids is a 501(3)c nonprofit registered in the State of Virginia as The Courage Cup. Its mission is to create, find, and support programs for at-risk urban youth that directly improve the health and well being of those children in the Mid-Atlantic region through financial support and volunteer commitment. Courage for Kids’s GIVE BACK-pack initiative sends children from CentroNia, Bright Beginnings and United Communities Against Poverty to kindergarten with a backpack filled with school supplies and books. Last year, the program provided the GIVE BACK-packs to 165 children, and the nonprofit hopes to raise enough in 2012 so that they can reach out to additional homeless shelters and early education centers in the Washington area.
