Washingtonians from both sides of the aisles gathered at the Newseum to celebrate the Digital Patriots Dinner hosted by the Consumer Electronics Association.
All proceeds from the Digital Patriots Dinner ticket sales and sponsorships will be donated directly to the Ron Brown Scholar Program. Named for the late Secretary of Commerce and inspired by his dedication to public service, the Ron Brown Scholar Program provides scholarships and support for bright but economically-challenged African Americans seeking higher education. The Program has named 281 Ron Brown Scholars, and has a 100 percent success rate of its Scholars completing college and being involved in community service. More than 98% of its graduated Scholars are now gainfully employed or obtaining advanced degrees.
Being honored at the event were Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) for their work on bipartisan issues like the SOPA and PIPA fiascos of earlier this year. In addition, David Rubenstein was also recognized for his commitment to upholding and preserving fairness in digital journalism.
