Lifting As We Climb Enduring Legacy Ball

We capped off a long night–not to mention a long weekend!–of inaugural balls with Lifting As We Climb on Capitol Hill.

Established in 2004, The Lifting As We Climb Foundation, Inc. (LAWCF) is primarily made up of young business professionals under the age of 30, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of underprivileged, low-income youth. The Lifting As We Climb Foundation, prides itself on being a “youth to youth” mentoring organization, with a specific mission to uplift disadvantaged, “at risk” youth between the ages of twelve and eighteen.

The mission of LAWCF is to cultivate youth development in education, leadership, community service, health and physical fitness and career development. While our aim is to provide this type of essential service to all children arising from disadvantaged backgrounds, we have a specific goal of motivating and empowering underprivileged children.

It made sense, then, that this black tie optional gala was a festive and energetic gathering of celebrants who danced the night away to live music. The event was hosted by DJ Envy, The Powell Foundation, Al-Tony Gilmore and Gregory Pratt.
The event aimed to be a “party with a purpose,” as it raised much needed funds and awareness to support The Lifting As We Climb Foundation’s “Sound Mind, Sound Body” After-School Mentoring/Tutoring Program.
By the end of the night–well past midnight on a weekday!–we were exhausted. Four inaugural balls in four nights? I see why inauguration is only every four years!
