Our favorite event of 2012 headed to Baltimore last week at the gorgeous Four Seasons Hotel. Touting itself as the one-stop shop for brides- and grooms-to-be, I headed there as basically the one unengaged person and was, remarkably, not even depressed–it was just too pretty to be.
Guests were greeted with an awesome swag bag including gift cards and a beautiful pastel pashmina. Caroline, our events writer who covered the DC event the week prior to this one, got a mint green one, while I got a robin’s egg blue one. Perfect colors as we enter wedding season.
Unlike the DC event, which features three separate hotels, all of the Baltimore event’s vendors were in a single hotel. Space was not an issue, however–the sweeping ballrooms and lounges afforded by the Four Seasons Baltimore were more than enough room for the dozens of event planners, interior decorators, ateliers, caterers, mixologists, and entertainment providers (see the full list below) that set up shop to make attendees feel like they were attending a real wedding.
We loved everything about this event, but to name a few of our highlights:
I’ll start with the Four Seasons staff, which was amazing. One usually expects that from premiere hotels, but their service was above and beyond. From the mixologists, who concocted an intriguing, steaming cocktail (and got me a strong cup of espresso after I’d had a few), to the chefs serving up succulent crab cakes, I’d feel very comfortable leaving my wedding in the hands of these capable, friendly people.
We’re, admittedly, quite digital people–I don’t envision having paper invitations for my own wedding. However, Kindly RSVP Designs, which displayed its exquisite paper goods, has raised the wedding invitation game to an art form. Just Ink on Paper, another invitations vendor, was also amazing, incorporating all kinds of media like feathers, netting, and all kinds of unexpected items in a tasteful, surprising manner.
Full disclosure: the Lenten Season precluded me from eating any of the desserts, but they all looked amazing. I can’t speak to any of the confections by taste, but the Sweet Hearts Patisserie desserts looked insanely tempting. Added bonus: I got a photo with Charm City Cakes’ Mary Alice Yeskey (of Ace of Cakes fame).
Although we were enjoying the abundant champagne, Honest Tea had a lovely non-alcoholic display, which featured a wide array of bold, refreshing colors.
Engaged! did it again, with another amazing event. There’s a reason we look forward to it every year, from the couture gowns to the couture cocktails to the couture cupcakes. No matter what your marital status, this is a go-to expo for anyone looking to plan an event that promises to wow!
