18th Annual Evening With the Stars Gala

An evening of cocktails, dining and an auction of unique sports memorabilia at the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC.

Auction highlights include an all expense-paid trip for two to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York City and a Pro Bowl package to Hawaii. Proceeds from Evening with the Stars will benefit NativeVision’s Sports and Life Skills
program.

ANNUAL SPORTS & LIFE SKILLS CAMP
The hallmark of the year-round NativeVision program is an annual NativeVision camp that attracts native youth from across the country. The camp is held each June and is hosted by a selected tribal nation. the camp rotates to a different reservation every two to three years. Professional athletes representing the NFL, NBA, U.S. soccer, volleyball, track and Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse interspersed with breakout sessions that promote discipline, teamwork, the pursuit of education and healthy lifestyles. In addition, Johns Hopkins health experts facilitate computer training sessions, parenting and cooking workshops, community service projects and arts and life skills workshops. The host tribes of the annual camp organize cultural events, health fairs and community feasts to promote native pride and traditional strengths for native youth. The next camp, slated for June 2014, will mark the 18th year of the program.

 

Beaujolais and Beyond Wine Harvest Celebration

Growing in popularity, this year’s Alliance Française Beaujolais Nouveau gathering for the annual wine harvest in France will take place at La Maison Française at the Embassy of France onNovember 22 at 8pm. This adored French fête will be nothing less than a joyous, elegant evening featuring light fare and diversions from leading members of DC’s culinary and social circles.

In addition to a selection of French breads, cheeses, pâtés and pastries, small plates will be provided by restaurants such as The Caucus Room and Paul Bakery. Guests will be treated to free-flowing Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau, in addition to a selection of wines from France, Italy, Spain and California (see list below).

To complement the libations, festivities will include a local DJ and dancing, a blind tasting contest, trivia quiz, silent auction and a raffle for round-trip tickets to Paris from Air France. Guests are encouraged to dress according to the Roaring 20s theme of the evening.

From 7:00 to 8:00 prior to the party, VIP ticket holders will enter the heart of the Embassy to enjoy a private tasting event with respected members and personalities from Washington’s political and professional circles. A jazz band will provide live music to set the ambiance.
