National Christmas Tree Lighting

The 2013 National Christmas Tree Lighting will take place Friday, December 6 on the Ellipse at President’s Park in Washington, D.C.

The ceremony will kick off the holiday season in our nation’s capital and can be viewed online LIVE at www.thenationaltree.org beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET with the exclusive National Christmas Tree Lighting pre-show.

Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will be performing at the 91st annual National Christmas Tree Lighting. Additionally, The Avett Brothers, Grammy award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, acclaimed soprano and musical ambassador Renée Fleming, multicultural operatic trio Forte, and Nolan Williams, Jr. and Voices of Inspiration will join singer/songwriter Janelle Monáe, Latin music superstar Prince Royce, jazz legend Arturo Sandoval and the multiplatinum, Grammy-winning band Train in performing a collection of holiday favorites. The U.S. Army Blues will perform in the pre-show co-hosted by 94.7 FRESH FM’s Tommy McFLY and ABC7/WJLA-TV’s Jummy Olabanji.

Tickets: Free tickets were distributed through an online lottery. The lottery is now closed. Tickets are only required for the lighting ceremony on December 6th. The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace will be open 10am-10pm until January 1, 2014.

Set with a backdrop of an enchanted winter forest with snow-topped trees, twinkling lights and fairy-tale creatures, this year’s event will leave a lasting impression! The surprises are to be seen, but one must be there to experience them all.

Madison and Mistletoe

Join the ladies of The Madison on Saturday, December 7th for Madison and Mistletoe at the Stroga Mansion. Three hours of open bar and White Ford Bronco on stage is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Logan Circle Holiday House Tour 2013

The Logan Circle Community Association (LCCA) will host the 35th annual Logan Circle Holiday House Tour, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 8th.

Advance tickets can be purchased for $30 on the Logan Circle Community Association website www.LoganCircle.org viaEventbrite link or at the following locations: Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, 1526 14th Street NW; Logan Hardware, 1416 P Street NW; The Coffee Bar, 1201 S Street NW; Barrel House Liquor, 1341 14th Street NW; and 5th Street Ace Hardware, 1055 5th Street NW. “Day Of” tour tickets can be purchased at the Studio Theatre for $35.

Kennedy Center Honors Gala

The annual Honors Gala has become the highlight of the Washington cultural year. In a star-studded celebration on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage, the 2013 Honorees will be saluted by great performers from New York, Hollywood, and the arts capitals of the world. Seated with the President of the United States and the First Lady, the Honorees will accept the thanks of their peers and fans through performances and heartfelt tributes.
