Washington patrons of the performing arts gathered Monday evening for a spirited concert at the Kennedy Center, followed by an exclusive after party at City Tavern Club.
The first portion, the Enchanted Christmas Concert by the Choral Arts Society, featured both the standing CAS choir as well as the children’s chorale. The chamber played both old favorites as well as lesser-known carols, and paid homage to the Ambassador of Italy with an impressive, quick-moving intermediate section of Italian songs sung in the native language.
The evening concluded with a rousing sing-a-long. In classic Washington fashion, many guests were uncomfortable and decidedly reserved and non-participatory in the delightful carol sing. However, for the guests less self-aware, the sing-a-longs to familiar tunes, including some verses sung in Italian, were the perfect spot of Christmas cheer during a crisp, clear winter evening.
Following the concert, young professionals headed to the storied City Tavern Club for a cocktail party at the private social venue. The after-party included open bar and Italian-themed dinner options, such as tortellini, linguini, a Prosecco bar, and your usual crudite and desserts.
