Our favorite event of 2013, the St. Jude Gourmet Gala was held last week at its usual iconic venue, the National Building Museum. This storied museum is the largest event space in DC, a good thing for the Gourmet Gala, which attracts over 700 Washingtonian’s for the midweek event.
Over the past fifteen years, the gala has raised more than $4,000,000 in much needed funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and spread awareness to the over 700 annual attendees about the important work that takes place at St. Jude daily. This year’s gala raised over $558,000.
The gala included cocktails, delicious tastings from 40 top celebrity chefs representing DC’s most renowned and commercially acclaimed restaurants, silent and live auctions and a VIP Post Gala Reception. All proceeds from the gala allow St. Jude to continue to find cures and save children.
Chef Scott Drewno of The Source DC won Taster’s Choice for his delectable lobster toast canape.
The vent was emceed by Rick Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospial. Standout St. Jude Board members who attended included Dr. Amin Barakat, Terri Carr, General George Joulwan, Eunice Mazloom, Allan McArtor, Arnold Schwartzman, Tom Wertz
