February 27, 2014- (Arlington, VA) – Arlington based children’s non-profit The Reading Connection (TRC) announces the date for its 10th Annual of Wine & Words annual fundraiser to be held Friday, April 4, 2014. This year marks TRC’s 25th anniversary – celebrating its achievements in providing literacy-rich programs and services for at-risk children and families.
Of Wine & Words will celebrate the region’s culinary excellence featuring the area’s top restaurants. 2014 Participating restaurants and beverage partners include the following:
Circa, Open Road and Trio
Green Pig Bistro
Lost Rhino Brewing Co. and Mad Fox Brewing Company
The event will also include a silent auction that has something for everyone. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit TRC’s local literacy programs.
The Reading Connection is pleased to have NBC4 Evening News Anchor Doreen Gentzler return as the event emcee.
For over 25 years, TRC has touched the lives of 15,000 local at-risk kids and has given out nearly 100,000 new books to those kids. In 2013, TRC read with over 1,400 kids and gave them nearly 12,000 new books. TRC’s programs span the metro DC area, from DC to Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County. The organization plans to expand to Maryland in its 25th anniversary year.
In 2013, Of Wine & Words raised more than $82,000. This years fundraising goal is $100,000. The ticket prices for the event are $50 for TRC volunteers, $100 for individual tickets and $150 for tickets that include the VIP Reception.
