March of Dimes Signature Chefs Gala

Nearly 50 of the area’s renowned chefs, mixologists and vintners will sample their best creations at the 18th Annual Signature Chefs Gala presented by Dixon Hughes Goodman and TTR Sotheby’s International.

Mike Isabella, celebrity chef/owner of G, Graffiato, Kapnos and Kapnos Taverna, served as the event’s honorary chef. Jo-Jo Valenzuela of DC Craft Bartenders Guild returned as the cocktail chair. Proceeds support the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The event featured an array of adventurous foods, as always. Big on this year’s menus across the many restaurants participating were oysters–there were many options from which to choose! Additionally, mushrooms made an auspicious appearance, perfectly seasonal for DC’s chilly weather.

“It’s an honor to work with the March of Dimes, and I can’t think of a more important cause than healthy babies,” said Mark Lowham, 2014 March of Dimes Signature Chef Gala chair. “The generous contributions of the restaurants, bars, wineries, sponsors and attendees will help fund vital research and community programs to save lives.”

Since 1996, the event has raised more than $1 million to ensure the health of babies. Each year, the March of Dimes Maryland-National Capital Area Chapter invests in mission initiatives, including research, education and community programs. Through these efforts, the March of Dimes strives to help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.
