“Local Dishes for Local Wishes” Brings Community Together!

Barley Mac has partnered up with Make-A-Wish Mid Atlantic to help make kids’ wishes come true!
Arlington, VA at Barley Mac:  In an effort to serve our community with more than just great food and great service, Barley Mac has decided to host a fundraiser called “Local Dishes for Local Wishes”.
On June 10th2017 (2:00pm-6:00pm) we will be hosting a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Mid Atlantic in hopes that we can really make a difference in local children’s lives, while strengthening our local community.
About the Event: The goal of the event is to raise as many donations as possible for kids with life-threatening medical conditions in hopes that we enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Currently, for each wish Make-A-Wish Mid Atlantic is able to grant, there are two more wishes waiting. The event will have an emphasis on raising money for the kids, but also providing a memorable experience for people of all ages while strengthening our local community. We have a Cordero Wine tasting, being poured by Sarah Fraser (a local celebrity), live music, amazing food for everyone, games outside, cotton candy, a face painter for the kids, along with our notorious selection of the finest bourbons and whiskies for the adults! Not to mention the incredible list of door prizes and silent auction items that will be offered at the event (including, but not limited to: 2 jerseys from the Washington Capitals signed by the players, tickets to a Georgetown Hoyas basketball game, a guitar signed by Panic! At the Disco, a hot air balloon ride, 10 free sessions to the local Orange Theory Fitness along with a couple t-shirts and a waterbottle, 3 pieces of autographed Redskins memorabilia, Washington Nationals Tickets, a poster signed by Meghan Trainor, along with even more cool prizes that have been donated from local businesses in our community!] Barley Mac’s fundraiser is an event that will be sure to keep EVERYONE entertained while making a difference in some local wish kid’s life.

Sean Jester (Manager at Barley Mac) was quoted saying, “With a restaurant like Barley Mac, one that is brand new to the community, we knew that we had a social responsibility; a responsibility, to do more than just serve great food accompanied by great service. It’s important for members of the community to feel at home when they are at Barley Mac, to feel a special connection with our brand. That feeling doesn’t just happen overnight, it comes from consistency in food, service, and years of community outreach. It’s important for Barley Mac to make a positive impact in peoples’ lives and really make a difference in the community. About Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic serves children who reside in central and southern Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland and northern Virginia. Founded in 1983, the Mid-Atlantic chapter has granted more than 8,800 wishes in the Mid-Atlantic region since its inception. Wish kids face any number of life-threatening medical conditions such as cancer, pediatric AIDS, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Duchene’s muscular dystrophy, kidney and heart disease. This year alone, 840 local children are expected to be diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. However, for every wish granted, at least two more local children are waiting. The community has the opportunity to make an impact today by helping Make-A-Wish to reach hundreds of kids whose wishes would go otherwise unanswered this year.
