A Candlelight Christmas at the Kennedy Center

We kicked off our Christmas season at the Kennedy Center this Sunday at A Candlelight Christmas. A favorite every year, this year’s event featured A CAPPELLA!, an elite vocal chamber ensemble from James Hubert Blake High School. This Montgomery County Signature School for Fine Arts and Humanities joined the Washington Chorus as part of their Side-by-Side Program. Emmy-nominated maestro Julian Wachner directed the choral groups, along with  brass, organ, percussion, and harp. The 200-voice chorus sang a program featuring Christmas favorites, sing-a-longs, and even some arrangements by the conductor himself. Washington National Opera Bravo! Club Social Outing

Bravo! Club is excited to kick off its first social outing of the Fall at the Art Museum of the Americas -celebrating WNO’s opening production of this season, Florencia in the Amazon. This unique outdoor-indoor event will showcase special opera performances by soloists, as well as brief overviews of both the opera and the author who inspired it – Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez. In addition, the evening will feature wine, beverages and light bites influenced by the exotic flavors of Latin and South America. Cocktail chic attire is encouraged. This is an 21 and older event.
